Who We Are
ASK was founded in 1999 by Professor Demetrios Sampson.
Demetrios is currently a Professor of Learning Technologies at the School of Education, Curtin University, Perth, Australia. Previously, he has been a Professor of Digital Systems for Learning and Education at the Department of Digital Systems, University of Piraeus, Greece (2003-2015) and, before that, a Senior Researcher at the Information Technologies Institute, Centre of Research and Technology – Hellas, Greece (2000-2003).
Demetrios has been actively engaged in research and innovation in the field of Learning Technologies for the past 20 years. He has authored more than 400 research articles published in scientific books, journals and conferences, has received 9 times best paper award in international conferences and has delivered 74 keynote/invited speeches in international conferences around the world. He has supervised 90 research students to successful completion.
He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Educational Technology & Society Journal, one of the most highly ranked academic journals of the field of Learning Technologies, and the Chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Learning Technologies.
His work in the field of Learning Technologies was recognized by the IEEE Computer Society, and he was awarded a Distinguished Service Award and Golden Core Membership in 2012.
